No- and Any- Pronouns: 아무...나/도

아무 is used for pronouns starting with no- or any- :

아무나 -- anyone, anybody

아무나 -- anything

아무**데(서)**나 -- anywhere

아무나 -- anytime

아무한테나 -- to anyone

아무하고나 -- with anyone 

아무렇게나 -- in any kind of way

 

아무도 -- no one, nobody

아무도 -- nothing

아무도 -- nowhere

아무한테도 -- to no-one

아무하고도 -- with no-one

아무렇지도 -- not so; be not so   

 


요즘 아무나 유명한 가수가 될 수 있는 것 같아요.

It seems like anyone can be a famous singer these days.

공휴일에 무료로 아무데나 주차 할 수 있어요.

On public holidays you can park anywhere for free.

아무나 기타 칠 수 있어요.

Anyone can play guitar.

아무때나 방문 하세요.

Please visit me anytime.

아무한테 저의 비밀을 말하지 마세요.

Please don't tell anyone my secret.

아무렇게 하세요.

Do whatever you want.

그는 아무하고 잘 어울리겠어요

He'll get on well with anybody (any-old-person).


No- pronouns must be used with a negative verb, so the sentence will read as a double negative:

월요일에 아무도 직장 가기를 좋아해요.

Nobody likes going to work on Mondays.

(lit. on Mondays nobody doesn't like going to work)

이 영화에 대해 좋은 것은 아무것도 어요.

There's nothing good about this movie.

(lit. nothing good doesn't exist about this movie)

나중에까지 아무도 도착 했어요.

Nobody arrived until later.

서울에 아무도 소호 같은 곳은 어요.

In Seoul, there's nowhere like Soho.

하루 종일 저는 아무 먹었어요.

I ate nothing all day. I didn't eat anything all day.

청소년 이었을 때 아무도 나보다 빨랐어요.

When I was a teenager, nobody was faster than me.

결과에 대해 아무도 듣지 않았어요.

I heard nothing about the results. I didn't hear anything about the results.

아무한테도 말하**지 마라! **

I said not to tell anyone! (I said tell it to no-one).

그렇게 아무렇지아요?

How can you be so cool about it? / How can you think nothing of this?

대학교 때 아무하고도 사귀지 않았어요.

I didn't date anyone in university. (I dated no-one in university).
