필요하다 is an adjective that tells us whether there is a need for something:

To need N:

Do I need my trainers?

Because I lost weight I need new clothes.

How much money do you need to live in Saudi Arabia?

I need a holiday!

How many books do you need?

I need time to think.

I need more money.

There's no need of N:

There's no need to V: (ㄹ) 필요가 없다

There's no need to yell at me.

There's no need to make a reservation for that restaurant.

If you have the booking on your phone, you don't need a boarding pass.

There's no need to apologise.

There's no need to transfer at Seoul Station.

There's no need to hurry.

There's no need to go that far.

필요가 있다 is far less common; it is better to use 해야 하다.
