If not, only if not: 아니면, 만 아니면

아니면 combines 아니다 (to not be) with 면 (if) to form 'if not'.

저는 곧 돌아올 거에요. 아니면 바로 너에게 전화를 할 거에요.

I will come back soon. But if not, I will call you immediately.

지금이 아니면 언제?

If not now, then when?

내년에 공부하려 서울대 아니면 부산대 갈 거예요.

Next year, I'll go to Seoul University or (if not) Busan University to study.

만 아니면 creates a structure similar to 'if only it were not':

여자친구만 아니면 돈이 많았을 거에요.

If it weren't for my girlfriend I'd have a lot of money.

나쁜 날씨만 아니면 지난 밤에 잘 잤을 거예요.

If it weren't for the bad weather, I'd have slept well last night.
