입에 쓴 약이 몸(병)에(는) 좋다: A good medicine tastes bitter

뜻: 지금은 일이 너무 아프거나 스트레스를 많이 받지만 결국 성공할 때는 만한 가치가 있어요.

Meaning: A task may be very painful or stressful now, but in the end when you succeed it's worth it.

보기:

-- 트레이너가 저에게 짜증나게 해요! 헬스장에서 열심히 운동하고 땀을 뻘뻘 흘리는데도 저에게 계속 잔소리를 해요!

-- My trainer is so annoying! I work hard at the gym, I sweat a lot and he still keeps shouting at me!

-- 입에 쓴 약 병에는 좋다고 하잖아요. 상담을 잘 들으면 건강에 더 좋고 근육이 더 만들 수 있어요.

-- A good medicine tastes bitter. If you listen to his advice you'll be healthier and have bigger muscles.

세 살 버릇 여든까지 간다: Old habits die hard (and should be broken early)

뜻: 나쁜 습관을 빨리 그치지 않으면 죽을 때까지 하게 돼요.

Meaning: If you don't quickly stop a bad habit you'll do it until you die

보기:

-- 여자친구가 결혼하면 나쁜 습관을 고칠 것이다고 약속했어요.

-- My girlfriend promised she'd change if I marry her.

-- 조심하세요. **세 살 버릇 여든까지 간다고 하잖아요.

**-- Be careful. Old habits die hard.
