From someone: 한테서, 에게서, (으)로부터

에게서 and the colloquial 한테서 indicate who a thing/action comes from:

저는 여자친구에게서 메시지를 받았어요.

저는 여자친구한테서 메시지를 받았어요.

I recieved a message from my girlfriend.

누구한테서 이 선물을 받았어요?

Who did you get this present from?

친구가 저한테서 돈을 많이 빌렸는데 안 갚았어요.

My friend borrowed a lot of money from me but won't pay it back.

(으)로부터 is an honorific version:

선생님한테서 답장을 받았어요.

사장님으로부터 답장을 받았어요.

I recieved a reply from my boss (company director).

한달에 한 번 아버지 로부터 전화를 받아요.

My father calls (to me) once a month.

(lit. once a month from my father I recieve a call)
