During, while, for (time period): 동안

Author
Written byLee Min-jung (이민정)

There are two common ways to express the extent of a time period using Sino and/Native Korean numbers:

Chinese number + 주일:

Duration of time (for how many weeks): 일주일, 이주일, 삼주일...

일주일에 네 번  수영해요.

I go swimming three times during one week.

I go swimming three times a week.

Korean number/Chinese number + 주

Usually with the number 1, Sino-Korean is used: 한 주, (두)이 주,(세) 삼 주, 사 주...

한 주 + 동안 (during) = for 1 week

주일 동안 = for 1 week
